Tanzania’s coastline is also magical, with tranquil islands and sleepy coastal village steeped in centuries of Swahili culture. In total it is stretched over 800 kilometers. Zanzibar often is often highlighted for its beautiful beach retreats and white-sandy beaches, but it is also more touristy. However there are some real hidden gems like Pemba or Mafia island. Also the mainland coast offers a few spots that are well worth visiting and much quieter and in a more remote setting. The beaches south of Tanga offer soft white sand and some good dive and snorkel locations. A 15-minute flight south of Dar es Salaam is one of the best beach hideaways in Tanzania, Ras Kutani.
