There are nine major island groups – Cebu, Bohol, Siquijor, Negros, Guimaras, Panay, Romblon, Samar, and Leyte all with their own attractions. It boasts with white-sand islands, postcard-perfect corals and colorful marine life. It offers anything from a posh hotel up to exploring rural villages and rugged shores. Cebu City is the region’s international gateway and provides connections to the main islands of Negros, Cebu and Bohol. Nice places to visit in this area are the marvelous island of Malapascua, where the sand is as fine as Boracay’s, tranquil Bantayan off the northwest coast, or if you want to go really off the beaten track, the isolated Camotes Islands. Bohol Island is another frequented visited place especially for its diving opportunities at Panglao and for the Chocolate Hills. If you want picture-perfect beaches, crystal clear water and some entertainment then Borocay on the northeastern tip of Panay is a good hideaway. It is famous for its wild nightlife scene and activities from scuba diving to kite surfing.
