Flores is Bali 50 years back. It is a tropical jewel that is still off the beaten track. Thanks to steadily improving transport connections and enthusiastic word of mouth from fellow travelers it is slowly becoming more known. It is covered with lush green jungle mountains, stunning white sandy beaches, home to Mount Kelimutu, a 3-colored lake and you still encounter many traditional tribes like the people of the unique Wae Rebo village. Wae Rebo is a small, very out of the way village located some 1,100 meters above sea level, where the air is cool and the village completely surrounded by panoramic mountains and the dense Todo forest. The main characteristic is their unique conical houses. It is a beautiful hike to get up there. Furthermore Flores is the starting point from where you can visit the Komodo Island that inhabits the Komodo dragon, the world’s largest dragon. It is a beautiful destination for the more adventurous traveler who is looking further than Bali.
