Description
Welcome to my village, located in the beautiful countryside just a short drive away from Yogyakarta.
This is the village where I grew up and where my parents still live, as my father has been a farmer his whole life here. On our family farm, we grow rice, corn, peanuts, soya beans, and many other crops that sustain our family. While staying with us, you'll have the chance to get a true feeling of local Indonesian life and join in our farming activities. Besides the farming activities, you also can learn how to fish like the locals in the lake nearby with a traditional canoe. We use a local method called "Branjang" to catch the fish, which I would be delighted to demonstrate and teach you more about. I can also take you to our local market and tell you all about the food we produce and the ingredients we use for cooking. We can have an afternoon stroll passing the rice fields while the sun is slowly going down. In the evening, we will enjoy homemade Indonesian food made by my mom, who will even show you how to cook it yourself.
Our wooden house is basic, and the floor is just simple soil. You will have your own room, of which we have two, that comes equipped with a mattress, mosquito nets, and a fan. You will share the bathroom with our family, which we hope suits your needs. It has a bucket shower and a squat toilet.
I can pick you up in Yogyakarta at the airport, train station, or you can choose to take public transportation, which can sometimes be inconvenient and take a bit more time.
