Unique community accommodation near Queen Elizabeth NP

Description

The elephant home is your ultimate accommodation during a trip to Queen Elizabeth National Park. It is a perfect base to explore the community and wildlife. The camp is located at the elephant's favorite meeting point and has spacious and clean self-contained twin/ double rooms that can take up to 9 people. Appreciate the hospitality of our community as you taste the local cuisine and explore the beautiful secret mountain lake community.

With a local community guide, you will go for a 3 - 6 hour trek on the Rwenzori foothills. The trek starts by following the nearby Elephant tracks, leading you to the cotton fields as you head to the hills overlooking Queen Elizabeth National park. The open views over the park from the mountainside are truly breathtaking. You may spot some large mammals in the savanna grazing alongside the lakes. Meet the people and learn the local crops and herbs from the locals themselves.

The legendary mountain lake is a village farmer's secret. You will listen to the story of how it formed in his garden and how it has changed their family life. Take the views from different angles as the farmer guides you around the lake. After the experience, return to a delicious lunch at the lodge and visit the crafts shop to buy some locally made gifts and souvenirs.

With this camp, the tours and crafts shop, we seek to generate income that helps our community to coexist with the wildlife animals by participating in conservation and creating alternative sustainable livelihoods.
