Off The Beaten Track Kigali Tour with Celine

Hi, my name is Celine and I look forward to taking you on my Kigali city tour, where I'll show you the coolest and most colorful neighborhoods in Kigali's Nyamirambo neighborhood. Nyamirambo is one of Kigali's most diverse communities, including much of the city's working-class and Muslim population and home to many bars, boutiques, and hair salons.

On this tour, we will walk through the charming streets of Kigali, where we can stop at a variety of shops that sell creative local crafts and homemade goods. On the way to Nyamirambo, we'll also make a stop at the locally renowned La Gardienne, which is famous for serving up Kigali's best tasting 'Sambusa.' After a scenic walk through the neighborhood, we will stop for a traditional Rwandan lunch at one of my favorite restaurants in Kigali. You can try ugali with sauce, brochette, fried matoke, akabenz, and much more at the restaurant. When our bellies are finally full, we can go to Mount Kigali for some fresh mountain air and one of the best views of our beautiful city of Kigali.

Rwandese love milk and can drink milk all the time. For this reason, our next stop will be at one of my favorite milk bars, where you can enjoy a traditional milk tasting while the owner of the milk bar tells you the story about how she started her business and what motivated her.

On our next stop, we will head over to the Kimironko Market, which is home to a vast tented market, swarming with people and exciting stalls selling everything you can imagine, from fruit and vegetables to gorgeous jewelry and handcrafted products. You will see the daily hustle and bustle of sellers selling a variety of items, and I'll show you how Rwandans do our shopping, of which bargaining plays a key role. I'll make sure that you get the best price so that you can take home some unique Rwandan items with you.

After our shopping spree, we will finish off our day with a locally-sourced cup of Rwandan coffee at my favorite cafe in Kigali. This relaxing coffee bar located at Kimihurura has excellent, pure Rwandan coffee plus a fantastic view of the city.

I look forward to hosting you and exploring Kigali with you on your visit to our spectacular city!
