Masai Mara CommunityRun Safari Camp

I started this safari camp close to the Sekenani Gate in the Masai Mara over a decade ago. All the profits from the camp are going directly to the local Maasai community and financing the conservancy that we are protecting. At the moment, we are planning to create a water pump that provides even more community members with fresh water.

The camp consists of 6 tents and a few bandas. The camp is built in the middle of the Maasai community, making it easy to interact with them. We can organize game drives in the Masai Mara, walking safaris, and every evening there will be storytelling from one of our local Masai members. If you wish, you can even volunteer at the local school that we have built.

The food we serve is authentically Kenyan and prepared with love. We will serve you breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And we can organize transportation for you from Nairobi to Masai Mara if you wish.

We had such an amazing stay in Nelson's camp! The staff is wonderful and shared very insightful stories. We also visited a nearby village to meet the local Maasai and to interact with them. It is great to know that the camp has been started by a Maasai himself and that income is directly supporting the local villages surrounding the camp. Thanks for the great experience!

We enjoyed a peaceful respite surrounded by nature - fantastic, we really saw the elephants and giraffes! The Masai people are very friendly, the food was great and so were the staff. It was a special treat to be so close to the Masai village and be able to visit the community. Highly recommend this lovely place.

We stayed two nights at this beautiful campsite. The food and beds were great, but especially the staff was very friendly, flexible and hospitable!

We had a great time at Oldarpoi. The people were very friendly and the service was great! If you are looking for something more authentic than the typical very expensive 'western-style lodges, this is definitely worthwhile to consider!

About Me

Hi, I am Nelson and was born and bred in a Masai community close to the Masai Mara. After having the chance to go to school, I wanted to give back to my community, so I started a safari camp next to Masai Mara. Now we are helping around 2000 community members and protecting wildlife. Come and stay with us and experience the everyday life and hospitality of this tribe.
