Langkawi Village Homestay and Island Hopping Adven

Welcome to Langkawi, the island where I grew up. It's sunny and hot, with the ocean all around us. Most people get around by motorbike, though my father is a fisherman, so we also like to take trips on our family boat. I cannot wait to show you around. While we are out in the ocean, maybe we will meet one of my father's fishermen friends and we can barbecue some freshly caught prawns and crabs on the beach.

Come and enjoy spending time with me and my family in the Malay village, off the beaten path and away from tourist areas. Get used to our relaxed pace of life, surrounded by chickens, cats, and monkeys from the nearby mangrove. Try our traditional food like my mother's homemade spicy tomato and fish marinade – your tastebuds won't forget it!

Get to know my friends and family on the island, and choose who to spend time with depending on what you enjoy doing. Maybe you would like to take a hike in nature, explore the mangroves, go fishing or swim in the sea, try drinking from a fresh coconut or try our recommendations for the best local restaurants, such as steamboat (cook your own meat selection in soup over a hot stove at the table).

Have fun as you join in with family relaxation and fun. Come along to mosque on Fridays, make new memories on the cablecar over the mountains, get a nonpermanent henna tattoo, learn the traditional crafts of the village women and go home with holiday stories unlike anyone else.

Hisyam and his family were the best hosts I could have asked for. As a solo female traveler, they were very protective of me and went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable, well-fed, and having fun. Everyone in the village was so kind and easy to spend time with. Everyone wanted to spend time with me and invited me to whatever fun thing they were going to do, be it karaoke, dinner with friends, or going to work. The younger people speak better English, but they will try and teach you Malay and I definitely picked up lots of useful words like 'delicious', 'dinner' and 'brother'. A truly one-off experience with lovely people. I was completely immersed in the village way of life, and actually felt like I was in a foreign country while on holiday, for once!

About Me

Hi, I'm Hisyam and I'm from Langkawi Island. I'm a fisherman's son and live with my younger sister, older brother and two parents, though I have lots more cousins, aunties and uncles in the village living nearby. I work in the Royal Yatch Club on the island, so I am meeting lots of international guests every day. I love to invite visitors to my favourite place on earth, where we have hot weather, amazing food and a warm welcome for you.
