Description

We’ll start our journey to a local village on the riverside where I will show you how they grow rice and catch their fish. You can enjoy a lovely coconut juice along the way, which is an excellent booster for the start of this day.

Next, I will take you to a local workshop where Vietnamese hand embroidery traditions are preserved and practiced. It stocks the most beautiful selection of embroidered "pictures," scarves and more, all painstakingly completed by hand and covering a fantastic range of Vietnamese subjects.

Then we will stroll over a local wet market where you can see how local Vietnamese buy and sell local fresh produce unique to Saigon city. I can explain the various items that they sell. On the way, you can try all the delicious food that Saigon has to offer, from Banh Mi (Vietnamese Sandwich) to “Bo La Lop” (Betel Wrapped Beef).

If we are lucky, we can see amazing local worship at Van Phat (10.000 Buddha temple) in the afternoon finishing off our day with a typical Vietnamese coffee while listening to the birds in the garden.

Lee is an incredible guide! We started the tour at a local market that looked like a village, but in fact, we were still in the city. He was a big help when we were buying some local fruits and was very kind to help us out with translation when we were talking to the locals. Lee took us to a few temples in the city where were minimum tourists and explained its history, customs, and rituals performed inside the temples. We're vegans and Lee picked a fabulous local restaurant to get some lunch. He took us also to Chinatown and to get some pretty panoramic views of the Ho Chi Minh City skyline, too. This tour is indeed about the unseen Saigon because we discovered so many new places that we'd been actually passing by before and never noticed them in the city! It was much more than hopping from one site to another. Lee answered lots of our questions about Mekong Delta since he's living there, and about Saigon, naturally. Thank you very much, Lee. We had a fantastic time!

Lee picked me up at my hotel with his motorbike and we went on to discover the streets of Saigon. It was nice to take a break outside the noise and pollution of the city in this Mekong river styled park, then to eat delicious street food in the center of the city on low stools and to finish with a beautiful sunset over Saigon
