Cultural Day Trip with Dewi

Description

Hi, I'm Josh and together with my wife Dewi, I operate an eco-bamboo homestay in Bantul just outside of Yogyakarta. When I'm not hosting guests at our Yogyakarta homestay, I'm working as a local tour guide, with my motto being about "travel to connect with the locals."

Yogyakarta is full of surprises when you choose not to go to touristy places. So if you plan to visit Yogyakarta and stay at my homestay, I'd be happy to show you around to see some areas that aren't featured in your guidebook. One of my favorite things to do is visiting our talented local Yogyakarta artisans, such as our famous local handwoven textile (Lurik) artists, shadow puppet artists, batik workshops, and even silversmith experts.

While we go out and explore the city, I'll also take you to a traditional local market here in Yogyakarta near the Royal Palace, where I'll also introduce you to some of our famous local snacks. We'll also enjoy an authentic local lunch at my favorite Soto stall and having some fresh coconut to refresh ourselves.

This itinerary is flexible, so if you have any requests during the trip, we can chat, and I'll try my best to suggest a place that suits your interest.

We look forward to hosting you at our homestay!

Reviews

We went on a culture trip with Dewi and it was one of the best experiences of our Indonesia trip!! This trip is really worth the money! Dewi made an excellent program for us, to experience crafting in java. Not only were we able to look to and talk to all kinds of artists/crafters, but also did we do some crafting ourselves. Dewi is a very kind and funny guide, very easy going and it seemed like she knew everyone in the village. She was also able to translate which made it possible to talk to the local crafters. Be aware that you need a vehicle for this tour. Dewi was so kind to rent us her motorbike, the traffic was chaotic so I was glad I was already used to the Indonesian traffic. Thank you again, Dewi!!
