  • Stay at a homestay of a Hmong community
  • Learn about the secret spots of the communists
  • Duration: 3 days
  • This is a private tour with a minimum of 2 people

DESCRIPTION

We will start this three-day journey by public train from Ayutthaya to Phitsanulok. Using the local train is a part of everyday life for the people of Thailand. It is an experience not to be missed! Phitsanulok is located in the lower part of northern Thailand. After lunch, we will walk around Wat Phra Sri Ratana Mahathat, where you can take part in one of the most traditional ceremonies. Afterwards, we will be heading by local “Song Taew” (local taxi bus) to the village of Ban Rong Kla. Here we will spend the night and be warmly welcomed by our Thai homestay family.

After a good breakfast the next morning we will get ready for today’s trekking adventure. During the hike we will see the fascinating underground cave that was constructed by the communists during the war. This underground stone cave used to hide the antenna and radio equipment for the communist army. You will have a chance to see the old communist camp before taking lunch in the jungle. Our trek continues through the forest with its beautiful flora and fauna. It is one of the best places for trekking Thailand. In the late afternoon we will return to the village by local truck for dinner and a well-deserved rest before settling down for the night.

The next morning we will walk around the village to visit a local temple and farmland. After returning to the homestay we will say goodbye to the homestay family and depart to visit the stunning Phu Hin Rong Kla National Park. It has very beautiful rock-formations. If you are here in December, January or February you will be lucky to see the Himalayan Cherry (pink Sakura) at full bloom.

Local guides at the park will give you all the historical details about the Phu Hin Rong Kla area. One of the highlights of this trip is reaching the “Pha Choo Tong”, “Ran Hin Poom” and visiting the Communist’s school. After your lunch we will take local transport back to Phitsanulok. Upon arrival in Phitsanulok you can choose to take the public bus back to Bangkok, Sukhothai, Chiang Mai or any other place.

This trip is a perfect combination of experiencing local culture, learning about the Thai history and trekking through the splendid nature of Thailand. Phitsanulok belongs to the best Thailand places to visit.

Ask a question

Hi, my name is Nutty. I earned my nickname because I like taking risks which often result in new traveling routes off the beaten track. I have 15 years experience as a guide and have a deep passion for sustainable tourism and responsible travel. I am a strong advocate of Community-Based Tourism and bringing benefits to small rural villages. Therefore I am collaborating with local guides from different communities and actively involve local villages. I can't guarantee that I will guide you, but then one of my fellow guides of the community will take care of you.

If I were English, Nutty would be my geezer. If I were Canadian, Nutty would be my buddy. If I were a Kiwi, Nutty would be my bro. If I were American, Nutty would be the bomb. But I am Australian, and Nutty is THE MAN.
