DESCRIPTION

We will start our Bangkok evening journey in Suan Luang National Park in the Suan Laung District of Bangkok. This park is well known among locals and every evening locals flock to the park to hang out, picnic, and work out. This park is beautiful and tranquil and I love hanging out here. It’s full of beautiful gardens, trees and canals. We will take time to see the various beautiful flower gardens. It’s such a nice start to begin a trip.

After Suang Luang National Park we will visit the Srinakharin Train market. This is the night market located in the area that used to be the old train tracks for Thai people to travel on and it opens only in the evening from Friday to Sunday. In Bangkok, we have 2 Train Markets located on Ratchada and Srinakharin Roads. The Srinakharin Train Market is the biggest one and it’s established before the Radchada train market. Ratchada Train Market is full of tourists and crowded because it’s located in the center of Bangkok and is close to tourists’ areas, but the varieties of food and product are of course less in numbers. Srinakharin Train Market can yield more of a local vibe of a night market and various types of food and products are sold here.

When we arrive at the Srinakharin Train Market, we will taste Janglon or Fried Tod Man. This dish is a very old recipe and rare to find on normal local markets in Thailand. It taste a little bit like fish cake and it is steamed red fish curry on a coconut leave. The meat is wrapped around a bamboo stick and grilled. It taste creamy from coconut milk and a sweet flavor of fish chili paste.

After the appetizer, you will learn about Thai food sold at local vendors, hawker stalls, and restaurants at the market. You will taste a variety of local food at the market. Some food you can hardly find at other local markets. What’s great about this market is that the chef will show you how they prepare the dish live in front of you. At each stop, you will try and enjoy different types of Thai food and drinks at the market.

After the exotic dinner time, I will take you on a fun shopping experience. You will discover plenty of products sold at the market. You will be introduced to different types of shops and stalls whose products are both first-hand and second-hand.

Last but not least, I will take you to a local bar where locals party and hang out at night. Here you will taste a cold local crafted beer while listening to local bands playing music and singing local and international songs.

Meet Phudit (aka Sammie)

Ask a question

I am an open-minded person, willing to learn new things and like to smile. I love cooking and of course, love eating Thai food. I like shopping at local markets and buy something to eat there. There are lots of tasty and healthy foods from Northern, North-East, Southern recipes here in Bangkok. I just love it. I am a part time local guide for a travel agency from Netherland and I have been working for an inbound tour operator in Thailand for many years. I can explain the ingredients of each menu and how to prepare them because I am a cook myself and I am passionate about food and cooking. You can call me a foodie!

We had a wonderful evening with Phudit! He was enthusiastic, informative and went out of his way to ensure we had a great experience. For those tired of markets, this is really a different one. It shows the local community and its culture with lots of tasty foods to try. Hanging out with Phudit was like having a great Thai friend for an evening.
