DESCRIPTION

I warmly invite you to stay with my family to experience life on a working Thai farm. Our farm is located in the highlands of Northern Thailand, a few hours from Chiang Mai. We produce a variety of crops like coffee and oranges. Besides this we are real animal lovers. We have three pink buffalos and small herd of cattle providing us natural fertilizer, a few ‘Moo Doi’ - mountain pigs, and dogs.

This room we offer is compact and sleeps three. There’s one bunk and a single bed. It has a big bathroom. The bedroom opens onto a long, wide veranda that faces west over the pasture and catches the late afternoon sun.

We offer you a fully inclusive stay of three meals a day, afternoon tea and refreshments throughout the day. We will serve you good, healthy, authentic typical northern Thai food. If it is the right season we can offer you our own morning picked and squeezed orange juice straight from the grove and our own freshly roasted farm coffee.

Price includes:

Meet Ae

Swadee Krup! My name is Chaiwat Pankaew, more commonly called by my Thai nickname, Ae. I think that even my parents have forgotten what my real name is! Twelve years ago I bought a small piece of land up in the hills with a river running through it, jungle and fresh air…then the adjoining lands and finally a jungle valley. Over the years I have done my best to turn it into my idea of Nirvana! I live on the farm and look after every single aspect of it. This place gives me so much pleasure and I feel so privileged that I want to share it with others. I therefore warmly invite you to stay on my farm and enjoy every piece of it.

Location

There's nowhere else like Thung Dong Farm Stay. If you're an animal lover and looking to get out of the busy cities, this place is for you. There's a calm atmosphere, super friendly dogs (4), Oscar the cat, many bird species, horses, cows, buffalo, pigs and bunnies! We were able to help feed the rescued baby birds Ae found on the jungle floor and hold the baby bunnies. We loved everything during our stay. It's a very relaxing place and there's things to do during the afternoon. Ae took us on a trek through the hills. He showed us how the local villagers live in the jungle, we walked through a passion fruit farm (they were delicious), and saw many different plant species. Near by there's hot springs that you can visit as well. We were served 3 big meals a day of authentic Northern Thai dishes, which were delicious. We were also taught how to make papaya salad. One evening Ae had us make wishes on lanterns and we lit them to send off into the night sky. A pretty neat experience for us Canadian's to experience a Thai tradition like that. The farm was so quiet that we could hear our own heartbeat at night! The farm is great for anyone. It's a tranquil place and a unique way to immerse yourself into Northern Thai culture. Stayed May 2016, traveled with my boyfriend and friend.
