Trekking & temple retreat in sri lanka

Haputale (bandarawela), Sri-lanka

The Activity

  • Hike through wonderful natural forests and beautiful paddy fields
  • Enjoy a picnic lunch by the river
  • Join a meditation session in the evening in the village where we stay overnight
  • Duration: 2 days
  • Maximum number of participants is 2

This walk meanders through wonderful natural forests and beautiful paddyfields where you can see my local people busy with their daily work. We will cross a very long, old bridge in the forest and walk down to the river where we will have a picnic and a rest by the river. After lunch we will trek up to a village located in a pepper plantation. In the evening you have an opportunity to join a meditation in the temple and have dinner of Sri Lankan rice and curry. We will stay overnight in the village temple.

After breakfast we will walk through the village and paddy fields on our way back to Bandarawela. The walk will take around 3 hours and then we will be picked up for a drive of two hours.

Meet Deen

Ask a question

Hi, my name is Deen and I have been a private tour guide in Sri Lanka for 22 years. I am married and have two children. I love Sri Lanka’s rural countryside and our green mountains. I would love to take you on an unforgettable trip and show you some of my country’s most remote and stunning spots.

The trek organised by Deen was wonderful! Everything was organised perfectly, he called my hotel the night before to arrange the pickup, and the guide that he provided had excellent English and was probably the best guide I met in Sri Lanka. As we walked I got to learn all about the history of Sri Lanka. We couldn't stay overnight at the temple because there was a ceremony going on - but that was fine as it was still fascinating to see the monks, drumming etc. My only suggestion would be to provide information before the trek about where the starting/ending points are so that I could have arrange my transport and accommodation a bit more conveniently.
