Welcome to our homestay, a unique place to stay near Unawatuna Galle. It is located in a very small, beautiful and peaceful village called Akmeemana. Everywhere here is green! Our house is located about 12 km from the main city, Galle. The famous tourist beach, Unawatuna is about 14 km away. We are very friendly, open minded and easygoing. With us, you can get an idea of how a typical Sri Lankan lower-middle class family lives. We don’t own much, but we are a happy and united family.

My wife is a good cook. She cooks typical and authentic Sri Lankan food like rice and curries, hoppers, Rottis, string hoppers and pittu. She is also very good at cooking fish. As our guests, you will get to know genuine Sri Lankan cuisine.

We have a nice fruit garden at the back of our house. There are many kinds of fruit trees such as banana, papaya, mango, star fruit and pineapple. We can offer you fresh fruit just picked from the garden throughout the whole year.

At the moment we only have one room. It is newly built with a western style attached bathroom and a small balcony secured with an iron fence. It has a nice, big, comfortable double bed. Furthermore, you can relax on artistically designed armchairs.

Meet Premadasa

Member since: April 2014

My name is Premadasa and I live with my wife, Dammika and two children in Akmeemana, Sri Lanka. I am a teacher at a school for children with mental and physical disabilities. My wife also worked in the same school as a music teacher but now she is retired. We decided to start this guest house for two reasons. To be honest, the first main reason is to make some extra money as my teacher’s salary is the only income we have at the moment. The second reason is our family likes visitors. We meet foreigners (mainly volunteers working at my school) very often and sometimes we invite them to visit our home. We like to chat with them and share our knowledge, ideas and friendship. Until recently we couldn`t offer them a place to stay. Now it is possible. We would love to invite you to stay in our home.
