I will take you on a food journey through my Colombo. As a chef I love food and know where to get the best ingredients and taste the best snacks.

DESCRIPTION

We will start our walk via narrow streets where locals are selling a variety of shoes, magical saree design jewelries and ladies accessories. We will sip a fresh king coconut along the way and taste a crispy pancake with “lunumiris”, which is delicious with ginger tea. You also have a chance to try out the famous street food called Hoppers after 3.30PM, with egg or without egg, made out using fermented country rice flour batter in front of you. In the morning they serve String Hoppers. Achchar or pickled fruits are very common at any time of the day. Try out more than 10 different varieties.

While continuing we will pass a local market where I can show you my favorite ingredients for Sri Lankan cuisine. We will walk over the town hall market to see the enormous amount of different tea leaves of different categories while smelling the sandal wood sticks that they are selling next to it.

See woven palm boxes, ancient grinding mills, molder and mortars, spoons of coconut shell and all other equipment used in Sri Lankan Kitchen.

Then it is time to have a good meal. Try our Lamprais for lunch or Kotthu for dinner. I know where we can get the best ones in town!
