Whether it is incense making, going fishing with a local fisherman, learning how to cook typical Sri Lankan dishes, help at the farm or install a water tank for a local family, we can guarantee you will have a real, local experience you will not forget. The accommodation is on a full board basis and all village activities are included.

The buildings of the farm have been made by village craftsmen and designed to reflect typical village homes as far as possible. Modern toilets and showers have been included for your comfort. Meet Ayesha & Nalin

Ask a question

Hello, we are Ayesha and Nalin. A few years back we returned to our home country, Sri Lanka, with the aim to develop the community of this Dolomite mining village. We started a small domestic farm with mixed livestock and vegetables and a fruit garden, run a community project that has the goal to obtain plastic water storage tanks for the village families and we recently also started to provide accommodation to be able to develop the community further. For us, it’s about bringing Digana to the forefront and really allowing it to develop.

Location

Ayesha and Nalin did a great job to provide employment and development opportunities to the locals. Essentially a small boutique dairy farm providing high quality produce , it provides new and basic cottage accommodation and excellent homemade food. We had the opportunity to cook with them and it was a great treat to prepare local food in a traditional way. A walk down the hill to the tank (lake) led us to a great and refreshing early morning swim to give us an appetite for breakfast.

I had a fantastic time in Sri Lanka. I honestly can't think of nicer people that I've ever met than Ayesha and Nalin. They have created something very special and it was a privilege to stay with them and see the projects that they're working on in the local community. I especially loved learning all about the local food, seeing how it is cooked and tasting foods that I didn't get to try anywhere else.

Ayesha and Nalin, both from Sri Lanka, returned to their homeland, after having lived in London for a few years, to start a home stay with a domestic farm. I always have a great respect for people that change their lives because they listen to their heart and want to make a change. This place is amazing and has breathtaking views. It is a perfect spot to relax and walk around to see the local life. If you want to help in the kitchen or at the farm you are more than welcome. You can even try the very tasty home made cheese from their cows. Ayesha and Nalin are not only doing this for their own good, but also for the community around them. They try to make the world a little bit better. It is more than just a stay, it is being part of a community for a short period.
