I really enjoyed the introduction to all the local foods (including tastings) on this market tour. It was also interesting to learn some of the religious history and culture of The Philippines. However for me this seemed more like a typical tour that one could book through a commercial tour company with a professional guide. It's well done, but not particularly unique.

I went on the Manila market tour and was really happy to have the opportunity to see a completely different side to Manila. The Escolta and Chinatown area - where this tour takes place - are completely different from the high rises of other areas of Manila and are well worth a look for the crumbling architecture, as well as the markets. Bernie was a great guide, navigating me around the tasty treats of the market and I found plenty of sweet treats to tickle my tastebuds even though I'm a vegetarian. From food to herbal medicine, I learnt plenty of new things about Filipino culture. For comedy value, I recommend having a market Tarot Reading :-D. The markets are a side to Manila life that many miss out on, so I would strongly recommend taking this tour.
