Number of people: 2 - 6

  • Contribute directly to the local communities by taking this tour
  • Experience village life, chat and eat with the local people
  • Trek along terraced hills with crops and orange trees
  • Duration: 12 days
  • Maximum group size is 6 people with a minimum of 2

This trek will take you to different local villages where you can immerse yourself in Nepali culture, chat and eat with the locals. The goal is to provide a real, authentic local experience and at the same time create benefits for the local communities along the way. Most of the income of the trek stays in the communities and almost all the arrangements are in association with the local communities.

It is a very nice and remote trek that will take you through different villages and lush green forest, and is suitable for anyone. You will start the hike and walk along terraced hills with crops and orange trees to the little village of Bas Kharka. Here the owner of the homestay where you will sleep will warmly welcome you with a fresh cup of tea. The next day we will hike further to Nangi, an orange farm village and a place where people make paper out of plants. This is a self-sustainable village. After a good sleep in Nangi we continue our trek to the spectacular Mohare hill at an elevation of 3300m that offers the most stunning mountain views. From Mohare hill we will walk to Danda Kharka, located in the middle of a lush rhododendron forest and well known for its rich bird life. Tikot is the next stop in a row and is a charming little village. The hike to Tikot is a very diverse one. The village Baiseri/Tiplyang will be the end of this trek.

You will sleep in homestays and community lodges. The food provided is simple Nepali food that mostly comes from this area and is organically grown. The main meal is called Dal Bhat that consists of rice, lentil soup, vegetables (curried and plain), local salads, pickles and chicken or mutton, sometimes with buffalo meat.

This trek can be done throughout the year. However if you are looking for settled weather and clear mountain views, the best periods are autumn to winter and spring to summer before the monsoon starts.

Meet Vimal

Member since: June 2014

My name is Vimal Thapa. I always enjoyed being surrounded by nature from my early school days. I have been lucky to find a job that is well connected with nature and which I am practicing for over two decades now. I have led and guided many mountain and nature treks in Nepal including ‘Bird watching/ornithological tours” in national parks and important bird areas in Nepal.

I was and am still involved in some conservation and social organizations and lead the voluntary nature and birding tours in Kathmandu on weekends.

I also have explored new areas of natural and cultural importance, where I am running and leading trips. I also hope to continue exploring new areas with the aim to support local communities with real economic benefits. I would love to help them to become more self-supporting, the Myagdi district, is a good example.

I am enjoying my work a lot and always hope to make a difference, in my own way!
