We will cross the Tizi n Tichka Pass, rising to 2260m, and stop to visit the famous site of Ait Ben Haddou, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. After the visit and lunch, we continue across the Valley of Draa and arrive at Nkob, a small Berber village. At this juncture, we drive north off-road toward the Jebel Saghro Mountains. We end the day in the beautiful valley of Handor and spend the night in camp or a guest house.

Day 2: Handor– Nomad Homestay

At Handor, we begin our trek to the nomad camp. Muleteers will take the luggage as we hike 1 hours across the Tifdassine Valley and have a break for lunch. After another 2 hours, we reach the remote Ait Atta camp and meet our nomadic host family.

You have the chance of milking the goats, which is the main work for the nomads during the day, as well as preparing butter and a local type of dry cheese. Learn how to cook meals using traditional methods and local ingredients.Try your hand at weaving nomad carpets, using the wool of sheep and goat. Experience the Dance of Ahidous, a traditional dance with tribal music, and play nomadic games with the children. No matter what you do, we know your days with the Amazigh nomads will be a life-changing experience.

Day 3: Nomad Homestay to Ighazzoun

We say goodbye to our Ait Atta nomads and trek through the amazing terrain of the Ighazzoun Valley, where we will camp for the night. 6 hours of walking.

Day 4: Ighazzoun to Marrakech

After the breakfast, we meet back up with our 4×4 Jeep and return to Nkob. We’ll have lunch in the Draa Valley in the shade of palm trees and arrive in Marrakech in the early evening.

I am Hassan Oumaarir, 31 years old, certified guide. We are a group of 5-10 persons, all of us are Amazighs ( Berber) nomad origin and we still have some families that still exercise the nomadism life style. We would love to show you our country and our people.

Location

We come in Morocco quite often and we decided to do a 3-day hiking trek in Jbel Saghro mountains. Hassan arranged the trip for us. This young and enthusiastic man Hamou Azoul realy made the difference!!! He was born and raised in this area. Very knowledgeable about all the surrounding nature. He was very eager to tell about his country and mountain life-style. On the way he was always taking good care of us, never taking any risks. The tents and gite were okay, there even was a shower. Lunch and dinner very tasteful and healthy prepared at the spot. We highly recommend to make a hiking trek in this beautiful mountains and ask Hamou to be your guide. Shukran Hamou!

I had always wanted to travel through Morocco. My friend and I booked this experience. Not only did we have the trip of a lifetime, but we never could have planned something as incredible as this on our own.
