During this food tour I or one if my foodie colleagues will take you to places that are enriched with deep tradition and heritage, especially around Petaling Street. The place where most say is the birthplace of Kuala Lumpur. We will let you try different local delights such as the national favorite Char Kuew Teow (Stir Fried Rice Noodles), Yong Tau Fu (vegetables with freshly stuffed fish paste, local seasonal fruits and pastries. A very special place is a coffee shop which is one of the last few authentic ones in KL. You can try the freshly brewed Liberica bean coffee and enjoy the hustle bustle of a Malaysian wet market. On the markets there is so much to see, from vegetables to various selections of seafood and poultry. I will tell you all about our customs and how we use these ingredients in different Malaysian dishes. You will also learn how we use Traditional Chinese Medicine and its herbal properties, sampling some herbal teas (a quick-fix to the heat and warmth of Malaysian weather)

Meet Pauline

Member since: November 2014

Hi, my name is Pauline and I am born and bred in Kuala Lumpur. I am very proud of the culinary diversity Malaysia has to offer. I believe in the importance of savoring family recipes passed down from one generation to another. Therefore I try always to include family restaurants and food stalls that date back to decades ago in my food tours. The abundance of food variety in Malaysia stems from the diverse ethnic population consisting of the Malays, Chinese, Indian, Eurasian and Nyonya (Peranakan) so you can imagine what a food Walhalla this place is. I'm doing this with a few more foodie colleagues. Come on and join us!
