Toi market is located on a by-street of Ngong road and is one of the biggest flee markets in town. You’ll find everything your heart desires. From sweaters, sneakers, backpacks, jeans, leggings, crafts, jewelry, hats and more. Piles of clothes hang from the roof and seamlessly blend into wooden thatched tables. Most of the clothes come from Europe and the US. Some might be new, but most of them are second hand.
It is great shopping at Toi market as you can find great pieces for a sweet deal. Not only you get a good deal, but you also contribute to the local economy and make sure that the local people get some food on the table.
I grew up in this part of town and will take you around the market so no worry that you might get lost. I know the vendors that sell the best items. I can tell you where the clothes are coming from and how bargaining in Toi market works. A good rule of thumb is to cut the price by a third and bargain up from there.
The walk will take around two hours. At the end I will offer you a delicious fruit shake made by myself. If you are craving for some healthy and delicious Kenyan food after your shopping adventure, I can take you to one of the best Kenyan restaurants in town (optional). In my opinion they make the best chapatti's!
Exploring Toi market with me will give you a wonderful insight in local life, hassle free and hopefully with some great items as a result.
We can start the walk at a time that is convenient for you. Our meeting point will be at the Java House at Adams Arcade shopping mall.
