Detailed itinerary

Day 1:

Munene will pick you up at 10 am in Nairobi. From here we will drive to the Samburu capital of Maralal (approx. 7 hours). You have the chance to take in the Kenyan landscape while passing the green Mount Kenya area up through the Samburu tribe region. On the way we will stop for a quick bite. Upon arrival to the camp, we will pitch our tents while Munene will cook a quick and delicious Kenyan meal.

Day 2:

After breakfast we’ll start driving up to the Mount Ng’iro region (about 4-5hr drive), where we will enjoy a quick lunch. Here we will start our camel safari trip. We will start trekking together with a Samburu tribe guide. On our way, we will meet the friendly Samburu tribe people and get insight into local life and hear about the importance of flora and fauna for the pastoralists. At the end of the day we will pitch our tent and take in the stunning landscape. You will have the chance to take a dip and wash the dust of your body in the river. We will enjoy our dinner around a bonfire, exchange stories of our lives or just sit and gaze at the stars.

Day 3:

In the morning we’ll start trekking again with our local guide exploring the villages and communities living in the area. We will come back to the camp for lunch. In the afternoon we further explore the nature and the beautiful scenery in the semi-arid area. In the evening we’ll enjoy another dinner and bonfire together with the Samburus.

Day 4:

On the final day we pack up our stuff, get it all on the back of the camel, and walk back. Once we get to the car, we say goodbye to our Samburu guides and drive down the scenic route through Samburu land with the famous towns of Baragoi and Barsaloi to Archer´s Post (about 6hr drive), where we will camp another night. Munene will prepare your dinner at the campsite and you’ll enjoy your last evening together.

Day 5:

We have a relaxed start of the day, having breakfast together and then heading down to Nakuru where you can add a few days in this amazing camp The Menengai Crater Camp (itinerary stop 3) or directly to Nairobi (about 5hr drive), where we drop you at your preferred location.
