DESCRIPTION

Welcome to my village in the countryside, just 2-hour drive from Yogyakarta. This is where I grew up and where my parents live.

My father has been a farmer all his life. He grows rice, corn, peanuts, soya beans and many more. While staying with us you have the chance to get a true feeling of local Indonesian life and join in our farming activities. Besides the farming activities you also have the opportunity to learn fishing like the locals in the lake nearby with a traditional canoe. We use a local method called "Branjang" to catch the fish, which I am happy to teach you.

I can also show you our local market and tell you all about the food we produce and ingredients we use for cooking. We can have an afternoon stroll passing the rice fields while the sun is slowly going down.

In the evening we will enjoy homemade Indonesian food made by my mum. You have even the chance to learn it yourself.

Our wooden house is very basic and the floor is just simple soil. You will have your own room. We have two rooms, one with a single matrass, and one with a double one. Both rooms have mosquito nets and a fan.

You will share the bathroom with our family, which I hope is ok. It has a bucket shower and a squat toilet.

When staying with us you can also volunteer as an English teacher in the junior high school near the village. I think the children would love to have a "BULE" (whiteman) teacher as we call white persons. Most of the students in my village have never meet a real 'whiteman'.

I can pick you up in Yogyakarta or on the airport or train station by car (35-40 USD) or you can take public transportation, but then need to change 3 times and it takes around 4 hours (15 USD).

Price includes:

  • Accommodation
  • Three meals a day/li>

Price includes:

  • Transportation to the village and back
  • Activities (5-8 USD pp per activity)/li>

Hi, I am Yuliyanto. I was born and raised up in a small village in the Boyolali regency, Java. The village is located around one hour by motorcycle from Solo city, and 2 hours 30 minutes from Yogyakarta. Currently I am working as a chef in a canteen in Yogyakarta. I love cooking and learning new things and would love to meet new people from around the world.
