Welcome to our homestay on the remote West Waigeo island of Manyaifun! Manyaifun is surrounded by islands that contain a variety of reefs still unexplored by foreign travelers. It is a wonderful place to explore the underwater world. You can see manta rays, turtles, nudy branches and sharks.
We have 3 bedrooms in a private bungalow on the beach with views of the bay. The rooms open onto a common covered verandah where meals are served. We have two double rooms with mattresses on the floor, the third room is a single room. All bedding includes pillows, mattress covers and mosquito nets.
The bathroom is shared and consists of a squat toilet and two dip mandi style bathrooms in separate enclosures.
Electricity is provided by a generator at night. We have a serviceable phone signal, but it is not strong enough for Internet.
Our friend Kostan runs Snorkeling Raja Ampat that specializes in tours to a variety of fabulous reefs suitable for snorkelers of all abilities around Manyaifun. We have at least 5 different reefs that could be explored and that are all wonderful in their own way. Please bring your own snorkeling gear.
We are also a perfect hideaway to visit the beautiful and iconic Wayag group of islands. It is cheaper and easier for you to reach. It also means that you’ll get longer to explore once you’re there!
Manyaifun is also nice for hiking. It offers some spectacular panoramic views and as the island is not large you don’t have to worry to get lost.
The closest village to our homestay is Manyaifun, about a kilometer away. It has some basic shops that sell basic supplies. Best is to take all your essential things with you upfront.
Unfortunately our English is quite poor so bringing a phrasebook will really help. If necessary we also have an English speaker in the village to help translate.
