  • Do a rice field trekking and learn about the local farming methods
  • Duration: 2 days
  • Minimum number of people is 2 with a maximum of 6

Our coastal village Jasri is located in the eastern part of Bali. Together with all the villagers we started a collaboration to open up our village to people who would be interested to experience typical Balinese village life. During these 2 days warmhearted people and Balinese friendliness will surround you.

As soon as you arrive you will meet your homestay family where you will stay this night. You can relax and sip lemonade while taking up the beautiful surrounding of Jasri. You have time to wander around, visit the beach and speak with the friendly locals. You can learn how to make traditional Balinese food while helping the woman of the house preparing the food. Balinese people love fish and coconut so either one of these ingredients you will definitely find back in your food.

The next morning after having enjoyed a delicious breakfast of toast, fresh fruits and juice you will be taken to the rice field in the western part of the village. Here we will start our rice field trekking in the fresh air, lush and green surrounding. Meet the farmers working in their rice fields and learn about the farming methods they us to cultivate the rice. Explore the wide variety of vegetation and plants that grow along the edge of the fields. Some of them can be used as food and others are also used for traditional medicine. You will find banana trees, lemon grass, turmeric, jackfruit, palm, coconut, pineapples that grow side by side. Fresh young coconut juice is provided on the way picked by a farmer. The trekking will take about 3 hours.

After this morning exercise you will be served a savory lunch at your homestay with the family after which it is time to say goodbye.

Meet the people of Jasri

We, people of Jasri, work mostly as farmers, fishermen, traditional craftspeople and labors. We strongly up hold our unique culture and tradition and our lives are still very communal. We would love to share our culture with you and give a peek into our daily lives.

The homestay and rice field trekking was fabulous. Wayan (Parsa) was very patient waiting for our delayed flight (over 3 hours at the airport) and welcomed us into his home with a fabulous home cooked dinner (by his wife) and Balinese dancing by his daughter and her friends. He was a lovely host. The following day, Wayan took us rice field trekking for a few hours, guiding us on long (but not strenuous) walk through the fields, and talking further about the village and the farmers, before finishing off at the beach. We then went back to sumptuous lunch made by Wayan before heading off to our next adventure. Overall, a fab homestay! And finally, the booking process was effortless, so a big thanks to Sanne and Wayan for that.
