In the Traditional Balinese Cuisine many kinds of herbs are used. The herbs are also a type of traditional medicine which are still in use today. We will show you how to create these delicious Balinese dishes during this 6 hour cooking class near Ubud.

All the ingredients we are using are organic and fresh. Some of them we grow at our own organic farm. The rest we buy from farmers around our village who also grow organic vegetables and herbs. It is important for us to know the exact source of our ingredients.

One of the interesting activities you can enjoy during the cooking class is how to produce cooking oil in our traditional way. The best Balinese oil maker, “my mom“, will show how we use coconut as our base for traditional oil.

Price includes:

  • Learn how to make an offering
  • Transportation back to your hotel or home around 2 pm

Meet Wayan and his family

Sawadee krup, I am Wayan. I live with my wife and two little daughters in a small Balinese compound in Bangli in the heart of Bali. Most of the people who live here are farmers. We have many plantations and nearly everything we need grows well in this area. We warmly welcome you to our family compound to have a peek into Balinese life. In addition to supporting our family and our community when you take our cooking class, the money you spend also goes towards a program to teach English to the children in the village and a recycling project to educate local people on how to reduce plastic garbage.

Location

We were picked up by Suri(Wayan's cousin) who taught us how to cook Indonesian food. The women of the family prepared everything perfectly. Everything was so clean and the food was really so amazing and fresh! We also received all the recipes by email after the class. Thanks a lot Wayan!!
