Hi, I'm Imam, the owner of a natural luwak coffee farm in Telemung Village, Banyuwangi. I'm working with local community in order to create a natural and sustainable farm model that let these wonderful animals live in the wild and select only the ripest coffee cherries in the wild.
You must have heard about Luwak as the most expensive coffee in the world that comes from Indonesia. With a huge demand for these high qualities coffee beans that is produced from Luwak feces. Most of the farmers started to harvest the beans unnaturally.
With that cruel fact, I decided to work alongside the local community and create a natural and sustainable farm model for the civets in their natural habitat and select only the ripest coffee cherries in the wild.
If you're a fan of coffee, let us take you for an authentic and educational experience on how these coffee beans are made. Upon your arrival, you must be very tired of the long train ride, so you can head to the homestay that we work together with and spend some time first enjoying the nature of Banyuwangi.
The next morning, after breakfast we'll pick you up from the homestay and spend the whole day at the coffee farm. First, we'll show you around the coffee farm, see luwak in their natural habitat, meet the local farmers, and learn both the process of traditional and industrial coffee making at our farm. After the exploration, you'll get lunch and we'll give you one free package of our specialty coffee that has been exported internationally ( Robusta or Arabika ).
How to get here
Board a train to Karangasem station (Banyuwangi) and the homestay is within a 5-minute walking distance. If you're from Jakarta you can head to either Malang or Surabaya first then continue the journey by train. Another alternative would be, to go by airplane from Jakarta to Banyuwangi.
