DESCRIPTION

Hi I'm Josh, and together with my wife Dewi, I run a eco-bamboo homestay in Bantul. in Bantul. While not manning our guests, I work as a local guide by the motto "travel to connect with the locals.

Yogyakarta is full of surprises when you choose not to go to the touristy places. If you're planning to visit Yogyakarta, I'd be happy to show you around and visit some places that aren't included in your guidebook. I'll bring you to some amazing artisans at work; from Yogyakarta's very own handwoven textile (Lurik) artists, shadow puppet artists, to Batik and a silver smithing workshop.

In between the trip, I'll take you to a traditional market near the royal palace where I'll you try some local snacks. Then we'll be off to get lunch at my favorite Soto stall, and having a coconut break to refresh our mind!

Important note: This itinerary is flexible, so if you have any request during the trip we can chat and I'll try my best to suggest a place that suits your interest.

We went on a culture trip with Dewi and it was one if the best experiences in our Indonesia trip!! This trip is really worth the money! Dewi made an excellent program for us, to experience crafting in java. Not only were we able to look to and talk to all kinds of artists / crafters, also did we do some crafting ourselves. Dewi is a very kind and funny guide, very easy going and it seemed like she knew everyone in the village. She was also able to translate which made it possible to talk to the local crafters. Be aware that you need a vehicle for this tour. Dewi was so kind tot rent us her motorbike, the traffic was chaotic so I was glad I was already used to the Indonesian traffic. Thank you again Dewi!!
