During these three days you will experience India in a different way. I will take you to villages where you can interact with the local artisans and their families. You can see their handicrafts such as weaving, block printing and embroideries and even try it yourself! Besides this you can help them with milking their buffalo’s, help with or just enjoy their home cooked food or having a chat with them over a cup of tea.

The first day I will pick you up in Bhuj (airport/train or bus station) and we will drive to Bhujodi village. Here you will see a weaving demonstration, you can engage with a traditional weaver’s family and learn about the various steps of weaving. Later we will visit Ajrakhpur village where you will learn about natural dyes and traditional block printing. We will have lunch at Kukma village with a traditional rug weaver family. You will be warmly welcomed and can enjoy their freshly prepared dishes. In the afternoon we will drive back to Bhuj and visit Rabari textiles collector’s home-based shop on the way. The second day we will drive up north which is known as a handicraft hub. First we will visit Nirona village where you can see Rogan art (oil based painting on fabric) and Lacquer work done by the Vadha Community. The next stop is Hodka village where we have lunch and can spend some time with Harijan women who can show you different styles of Kutchi embroideries. You will spend the night in the Great Rann of Kutch, watching the sun going down. You will have dinner with a local family and stay overnight near Dhordo.

Meet Kuldip

Ask a question

Namaste, my name is Kuldip Gadhvi. I am born and raised in Bhuj, in the state of Gujarat, west India. I became interested in Kutch when I was working as a project coordinator in the Shroff Foundation Trust and worked in close contact with the local communities. Kutch has many different cultures and communities and during the years I have learned about their customs, traditions, faith and beliefs and most interesting of all - their harmonious existence with their cattle. I became very passionate about sharing my love and knowledge of Kutch and as a result I started hosting and guiding tourists. If you fancy visiting places off the beaten track, meeting local people and love being in the middle of nowhere then Kutch is the perfect place for you...Be welcome in my world and ‘let’s get lost’:-)
