Are you curious how Cambodian people live and would you like to experience it? My wife and I will welcome you into our traditional Khmer-style house. You can join us in our daily activities with the help of an English-speaking guide, or just relax in a hammock and watch the village life pass by.

DESCRIPTION

We have two bedrooms each with a double bed, mattress, mosquito net, cotton sheets, blankets, pillows and battery-powered fans. We can also organize an extra bed, if needed. There is a shared bathroom with a western-style toilet and shower. Electricity is available from 6 to 11 p.m. Meals will be served in the CBT restaurant, or you can arrange a picnic with one of the tour guides.

We are a member of the community-based tourism (CBT) group, which helps us earn extra income through sustainable and responsible tourism projects. We enjoy the regular meetings held by members of the CBT committee and are excited by the prospect of speaking better English, learning housekeeping and the increasing opportunities that the CBT is creating in Banteay Chhmar.

Meet Sopheann

My name is Sopheann, and I live with my wife, Davin, and five children in Banteay Chhmar. I was a teacher for 17 years at the Banteay Chhmar Primary School. Now, I am a rice farmer and own about 15 hectares of fields. It would be my pleasure to show you the life of a farmer, our culture and countryside. Unfortunately, we don’t speak English. However, this will not be a problem with the help of one of our CBT guides.
